Redno posodabljano delo
- Ohrani moj slog pisanja.
A regularly updated work
Welcome to the official website of La Slovénitude. This site makes my manuscript on the history of the Slovene people and their lands, from the 5th century to the present day, available to everyone, entirely free of charge. Available in three languages (French, English and Slovenian), this work is the fruit of a boundless project to which I devote myself heart and soul, with the ambition of tracing, across nearly fifteen centuries, the destiny of a people and of the lands it inhabits.
It is an invitation to discover the history of a people long oppressed, wounded for centuries by unspeakable violence and abandoned to general indifference. A people nevertheless never defeated, who never ceased to rise again and to preserve what could be preserved, until they built a country now counted among the most beautiful, the cleanest and the safest in the world: Slovenia!
This project is entirely voluntary. Its scale makes it particularly time-consuming and, in order to make it accessible to as many people as possible without further delaying its publication, I chose to use artificial intelligence to produce the English and Slovenian translations currently available. I have striven to keep them faithful to the French text through proofreading and precise instructions designed to guide the translation work. The initial prompt, which sets out the requirements for this exercise, is reproduced below:
“I have written a book on the history of Slovenia that I wish to make accessible to English-speaking and Slovenian-speaking readers through translations that you will produce. However, you must strictly comply with the following requirements:
- Preserve my writing style.
- Do not alter the original text under any circumstances. You are not permitted to change the French text. Only one exception is allowed: I sometimes provide context for certain Slovene terms for the benefit of French-speaking readers. In the Slovenian translation, reproducing these passages word for word would be absurd. They must therefore be adapted so that they speak naturally to readers who already know the language. In particular, take as your model the passage devoted to the medved in the first chapter.
- The current division of the text serves my layout, which includes many illustrations and maps. You must therefore preserve it as far as possible, except where the obligation to keep roughly the same number of characters or words harms the text itself.
- Indicate every word that must be set in italics in the translations.
Once you have taken these instructions on board, I will start sending you the chapters one after another, so that you can handle each of them individually and in detail.”
